A Free Press?
Apparently not as much...Freedom House's 2005 Global Press Freedom Rankings drops us to #24, tied with Canada and former Soviet Satellites Latvia and Estonia. When you combine fake town hall meetings with the Helen Thomas incident and replacing her with Jeff Gannon, you can expect as much. (Oh and this is one of the latest developments...)
This is, honestly, quite pathetic. And the White House should be ashamed.
This is a democracy, and if you honestly believe your policy is the right policy, let it take the test of public scrutiny. In the end, after all these infringements on free press, the integrity of the White House has been tainted. Curtainly the public's right to know might work once or twice, but it will eventually catch up to you. And by eventually I mean 100 days into your second term.
